Diamond Digger Saga Wiki

Blocks are the most common elements in Diamond Digger Saga. They prevent the flow of water and are destroyed when combos are made, either on them or beside them (once or multiple times). They take up a square (1x1 tile).

There are many different types of blocks, each having different properties, so a player has to deal with each one differently. Some are easier to deal with, some are harder.

Steel blocks prevent the flow of water and the fall of diamonds. They can be destroyed only with Dynamite. A few levels require that certain steel blocks are destroyed to free fireflies or open the exit to the next board. In these levels the Magic Orb will offer the required Dynamite (e.g. Level 291). Thin Porous Block Thick Porous Block Mud block Episode 2
Level 11
This is a common block in the game. It can be destroyed by combining diamonds that are positioned BESIDE the ground block once.
Thick mud block is very similar to thin mud block. It can also be destroyed by combining diamonds that are positioned BESIDE the ground block, but as it's THICKER, a player must do it twice!

Episode 26
Level 472

These are similar to mud blocks. They can be destroyed by combining nearby diamonds once.
  • What is different between frozen and mud block is that frozen block has a frozen diamond in it, and once the block is destroyed, diamond can be treated as a regular diamond. Before the destruction of the block, a diamond cannot be combined.
Very low
Purple Block Purple block Episode 4
Level 41
Purple block prevents the flow of water and no diamonds on these blocks can be combined. These blocks cannot be destroyed, and therefore they can be very irritating. The only way to destroy them is by using a dynamite or a shovel. However, purple blocks are hollow for diamonds, so if you match a combo under these blocks, diamonds can easily fall through them. High
Lava Lava Stone Block Lava block Episode 7
Level 91
Lava Block prevents the flow of water and the fall of diamonds. Before destroying them completely, you need to cool them down by bringing the flow of water to them. They can be pretty irritating because, as long as they haven't been cooled down with water, they reproduce themselves throughout a level board.

Once you have cooled them down with water, they behave like broken stones and are destroyed by two combos on them.

So, to destroy them:

  • Bring the flow of water to them
  • Make two diamond combos on them

Ninja Frozen ninja Episode 10
Level 151
Frozen ninja prevents the flow of water and the fall of diamonds. They can be destroyed by one diamond combo nearby. However, they explode afterward and make a 3x3 square around them frozen - they change diamonds in this square into frozen blocks. Due to this fact, they can be very irritating.

Stonemakericon Angry rock Episode 13
Level 211
Angry rock, comparing how it's activated, is very similar to a frozen ninja. Just as ninja block, it's destroyed and "triggered" by one combo nearby. Once triggered, it explodes and transforms a 4-way path in + shape into Broken Stones. Due to the fact that it can block the flow of water even if you've cleared the way already and that it makes a lot of broken stones at once, this block can be considered very irritating. Somewhat high
Bee Bomb Mud bee bomb Episode 14
Level 231
Mud Bomb is a special block in Diamond Digger Saga. It blocks the fall of diamonds but doesn't block the flow of water. It has a count number at the top right corner. It represents how many moves are left until the bomb explodes. Each move, the number reduces by one. When the count reaches zero, the bomb explodes and does the following:
  • Makes the tile, where the bomb was positioned, a thin mud block.
  • Transforms other random tiles to thin mud blocks. The number of thin mud blocks varies - it's usually around 10. That's not few, so this block can be irritating - not only due to this fact but also because those mud blocks can block the flow of water.

However, you can prevent the explosion. To do this, you need to bring the flow of water to the mud bomb, before it explodes. Once "watered", a mud bomb simply disappears.

Porous Ninja Block Mud ninja Episode 18
Level 311
Mud ninja is pretty similar to regular frozen ninja. Both are triggered by a matched combo nearby. The difference is that frozen ninja blocks make a 3x3 square around them frozen blocks, and mud ninjas change (correspondingly) 3x3 square around them thin mud blocks.

Ice Maker Block Angry ice Episode 19
Level 331
Angry ice is pretty similar to angry rock (see above). Both are triggered by a matched combo nearby. The difference is, that angry rock change all the tiles in + shape into stones, and angry ice change (correspondingly) all the tiles in + shape around them into frozen blocks.

Note that missiles and color bursts resist the freeze of angry ice.

Chameleon Chameleon Episode 20
Level 351
Chameleons are a very specific block. The chameleon is sleeping 45 degrees clockwise from standing up. They are something completely new, totally different to all of the other blocks. These are the main characteristics of chameleons that you need to know. There are two types of chameleons:
  • Sleeping chameleons: They're sleeping and therefore have no effect until water wakes them up. You can destroy them by waking up all the fireflies on the board, without waking them up.
  • Active chameleons: Once woken up, sleeping chameleons transform into colored-chameleons, which are active. Color is random. They have a count number in their bottom right corner, which shows you how many diamonds of that color you need to break in order to destroy them. Meanwhile, as long as they're on the board, each time you wake up a firefly, they'll eat it and it won't be collected. However, don't worry - once you destroy the chameleon, all fireflies will be "released" and therefore collected.

Lava bomb is a special type of bomb in Diamond Digger Saga. It blocks the fall of diamonds but doesn't block the flow of water. It has a count number at the top right corner. It represents how many moves are left until the bomb explodes. Each move, the number reduces by one. When the count reaches zero, the bomb explodes and does the following:
  • Makes the tile, where the bomb was positioned, a lava block.
  • Transforms other random tiles to lava blocks. The number of lava blocks varies - it's usually around 10. That's not few, so this block can be irritating - not only due to this fact but also because those lava blocks can block the flow of water. (In case the lava blocks land next to water, they immediately turn into broken stone.)

However, you can prevent the explosion. To do this, you need to bring the flow of water to the lava bomb, before it explodes. Once "watered", a lava bomb simply disappears.

Water toy block appears only on Toy levels. It can be treated like 'Toys cage'. It can be destroyed by three hits besides the water toy block. In that way, it can be explained like a 'three-layered mud block'. Once destroyed, it releases a certain amount of toys. They fly across the whole board, and logically, they land on tiles afterward.

There is a variant of all types of ground blocks with golden stripes. They give additional points when removed. 100, 500 or 2,000 points.

Diggy blocks prevent the flow of water and the fall of diamonds. They are similar to mud blocks (they are destroyed by the number of combos nearby), but they have more thicknesses and they give a lot more points. They can appear in non-score levels after level 1010.

These are the types of diggy blocks; when hit, they give a musical notation, depending on the layer: See below[2]

Notes[]

    • If a toy lands on a ground block, it becomes a blue ground block.
    • If a toy lands on a broken stone, it becomes a blue broken stone.
    • If a toy lands on a stone, it becomes a blue stone.
    • If a toy lands on a thin mud block, it becomes a blue thin mud block.

    • If a toy lands on a lava block, it becomes a blue lava block and can be treated like blue broken stone, once cooled down.
    • If a toy lands on a frozen ninja, it's triggered, it explodes and freeze diamonds. The toy becomes a blue ground block and is positioned in the square the ninja block has frozen.
    • If a toy lands on a tile WITHOUT blocks, but also WITHOUT water, it becomes a blue ground block.
    • If a toy lands on a tile without blocks, and with water on it, it automatically collects itself.
    • A toy CANNOT land on diggy blocks!
    • A toy will not land on purple blocks (see level 562, first board).
